Five pennants from the Negro Leagues. Pennants range in length from 23-26” and stand approx 7” high. Pennants are from: N.Y. Black Yankees (1936-48) who were co-owned by financier James “Soldier Boy” Semler and famed dancer Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. The Black Yankees originated in Harlem and moved to Albany, New York. Newark Eagles (1936-48) were a merger of the Newark Dodgers and the Brooklyn Eagles. The Eagles had future Hall-of-Famers Larry Doby, Monte Irvin, Ray Dandridge, Leon Day, and Willie Wells. The New York Cubans, a squad made up of predominately Latino players led by Orlando Cepeda’s father. The Elite Giants went to Baltimore in 1938 and won the Negro National Title in 1939 and 1949. The Elite Giants introduced us to Joe Black, Junior Gilliam and Hall of Fame catcher Roy Campanella. Homestead Greys won 9 straight pennants from 1937 to 1945. They were led by future Hall of Famers Josh Gibson, “Cool” Papa Bell, Judy Johnson and Buck Leonard.
