Terrific original 3.75 x 5.5” b&w photo of The Flying Dutchman in a classic fielding pose, mounted on a larger backing sheet of cardboard paper stamped “Culver Pictures Inc.” on back. One of the best shots taken of the best shortstop of all time, dominated by Wagner’s granite jaw and intense eyes as he reaches forward with his oven-mitt sized glove and bare hand, clad in an early 1900s Pirates uniform with dark collars and horizontally-striped socks. If you could find his face on that early tobacco card he had taken out of circulation, you’d be set for life. (Ironically, it was said that Wagner once caught a grounder with his bare hand while he reached with his glove hand into his back pocket for a tobacco chaw, literally throwing the runner out with one hand behind his back.) Mounted photo is EX-MT, o/apiece EX+ w/very light corner damage.
