The Duke sent these two courtly correspondences to famed sports columnist Jim Murray, one on Wayne's personal stationery and signed "Duke", in the '70s near the end of his illustrious life (he died in '79). Typed note dated Dec. 23, 1976 (6 x 8.25") gently quibbles, "Couldn't you have made that last line a question instead of a command?" and concludes, "Sincerely, John Wayne" with "Duke" underneath in black pen.
