While the pugs who fought for the light heavyweight crown and graced the cover of this Feb. 7, 1963 Miami Beach Convention Hall fight program are long forgotten, the same can't be said of one name on the undercard -- one Cassius Clay, who had an 8-round heavyweight bout against Willie Gulat. Piece is a rarity, since this fight was canceled before new programs could be printed. Also of note is the irony that a year later, in the very same arena, Clay would "shake up the world" against Sonny Liston. Marvelous period boxing piece, with items including the grim-in-retrospect news that Benny Paret had signed to fight Emile Griffith (the fight that cost his life). 7 x 9.5" program has the middle 2 pages loose but o/w a bright and clean EX-MT.
