Vintage ceramic plate from Latin America with a boxing theme that may have been intended as a slight against Jack Johnson. Black and white images depict a white fighter happily landing a punch on a black fighter's face, to the delight of the white crowd. The black man is caricatured as ape-like in the manner of oldtime comic books. Reads "La Boxe" on the top, Spanish writing on bottom, some rubbed off. Green & white border leaf pattern is perfectly intact, and the plate has not so much as a chip anywhere. NRMT and a curious curio. 7.5" in diameter.
