Four particularly important and hard to find examples from the early '50s "Baseball Hero" series of Fawcett action comic books based on the lives of popular ballplayers of the day. Admirably, the series didn't shy away from racial issues in a still-newly integrated game, and today these issues for Jackie Robinson, Larry Doby, Roy Campanella and Don Newcombe are highly sought after. A further charm are the full-page photos of each man on the back cover with facsimile signatures and inscriptions of all except Robinson. Books are VG-EX with some spinal foxing of the Campanella and Doby, and light tearing on the all-important Robinson. Inside pages are very nice.
