The clarity of Charles M. Conlon's 1927 portrait of Mickey Cochrane is so sharp that you can see tufts of wool rising from the Hall of Fame catcher's cap. Although Cochrane is in repose, the near flawless 6.5x8.5" NRMT black and white captures an entire era perfectly. Note the crisp gray flannel jersey and the Philadelphia Athletics' elephant logo -- one that is indeed hard to forget. Conlon's ink stamp and date mark are on the back, along with his (Conlon's) pencil inscription "Gordon Cochrane (Athletics)."
