Outstanding original color portrait of the tragic and inspiring Hall of Fame catcher was done by artist Dick Perez for Perez Steele Cards. Perez is the official artist of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and of the Phillies, and when he paints the legends of baseball, he's not just painting a portrait of a player -- he recaptures either a moment in the history of the game or a scene that places the player in the context for which he is best known. Perez completed 32 oil paintings of the Hall of Famers with Philly roots. He has done mainly players from the old Philadelphia Athletics and the Phillies, but included Roy Campanella, a native son of the city. His rendering depicts a bust of Campy wearing a blue Brooklyn Dodgers cap atop an action scene of the three time NL MVP tagging out a runner at home plate. Bright and colorful picture of Campanella measures approximately 12 x 20" and is signed by "Campy" in blue sharpie uniquely on the outside of the glass of the frame. The signature is a bit faded but is still legible. A COA for the signature is in back of the frame. The artwork is NRMT. One of the best images of Campy we've ever seen.
