Spalding's 542-page masterpiece, "America's National Game", is still considered to be the ultimate baseball book by many historians. Signed copies of this revered tome are hard to come by and we're proud to offer an excellent one bearing one of the better Spalding signatures. Inscription on first page reads, "To my cousin Henry B. Warner, who was my early ideal of a ball player. With my compliments and Christmas greetings, Al Spalding, Point Loma, California, Dec. 25th 1911". Black fountain pen, 9/10. On the inside cover is a small envelope with a later note from Julia Warner, Henry Warner's cousin, to Judge K.M. Landis as a thank-you gift for saving the game after the Black Sox scandal. Cover of the book, with its unforgettable engraved Uncle Sam in uniform and holding a bat, is a vibrant purple-blue. Best of all, it's in excellent condition. While the binding has come loose and the first few pages along with it, this is nothing that cannot be easily repaired and restored into its original pristine condition. All in all, a baseball historian's dream, from the Leslie O'Connor Collection.
