In the hobby of baseball collecting, no symbol of status is deemed higher than the vintage wood of the original Sultan of Swat. And this Hillerich & Bradsby George ‘Babe’ Ruth signature model does his legend proud justice. Made to Babe Ruth’s exact specs, and measuring 35” in length, this divine piece of lumber tells a tale of true hero worship in baseball at its purest. In perfect display condition, displaying solid game use from nearly 8 decades gone, there are still frequent ball marks that have darkened over the years. The bat is remarkably well preserved, with almost no apparent deadwood and no cracks whatsoever. Nothing is legible on either end of the bat, although perfectly placed on the barrel is Lou Gehrig’s timeless and characteristic inscription and signature in black fountain ink: “To Bill - May I always prove worthy of your friendship. Cordially, Lou Gehrig.” Signature and inscription grade “8” out of a possible 10. The perfect tribute, as these two legendary Hall of Famers formed both parts to the most effective one-two punch in history.
