Herman Seid, longtime photographer for the Cleveland Press, trained his lens on many compelling subjects, from ballplayers in the '40s and '50s to Martin Luther King in the '60s. This marvelous bound volume holds many of Seid's original negatives (and some prints) from his work hanging around baseball diamonds. Many understandably focus on Indians players such as player-manager Lou Boudreau, but there are great shots as well of Boston's Jimmie Foxx and one of surly Commissioner Kenesaw Landis almost smiling, as well as overhead airborne views of stadiums and action shots such as those from the 1945 World Series. Most negs are 4 x 5" .
