This "arresting" original oil painting of the Major League Baseball logo impressed so many baseball people -- and even Richard Nixon -- that they apparently overlooked or didn't know the identity of "J.W. Gacy" who signed in "blood" red on the lower right corner. Which we figure makes this the best piece of baseball memorabilia ever created by a mass murderer and signed by some of the game's biggest all-time stars and a former U.S. President. What the signers -- including Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, Frank and Brooks Robinson, Stan Musial, Willie Stargell and Ernie Banks -- did not realize was that John Wayne Gacy, a respected businessman and child party clown, killed and buried 28 people under his Ilinois house in the late '70s. Sentenced to death in 1980, Gacy turned to painting to help bide the time on Death Row (he was executed in 1994) and his works won acceptance by art critics, dealers, Hollwyood celebrities. Gacy's 15 x 20" red, white and blue oil painting is on a white matte surface. "Baseball Hall of Fame" is written at the top and Gacy wrote on the back in black sharpie, "I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed doing it -- John Wayne Gacy. He also wrote "Oil 1015". For those who collect mass-murderer signatures, Gacy's is 9/10. For the baseball collectors, signatures are in blue sharpie are 8s and 9s, with DiMaggio (center above the image) and Mantle at the high end. Nixon's, with "9-7-90", is also a high 9. Other names include Duke Snider, Juan Marichal, Al Kaline, Yogi Berra, Billy Williams, Buck Leonard, Enos Slaughter, John Mize, Bob Doerr, etc. Comes with a photo of Roy Campanella signing it. Piece is mint and comes with COA. One defintely for the books -- like Ripley's.
