After winning both the pentathlon and the decathlon at the 1912 Olympics, Jim Thorpe was deemed the greatest athlete in the world. Upon returning to America, he was signed for the very next season to play for the Giants. Shown here, standing at the end with teammates, his monstrous figure looms over the rest of his relatively diminutive New York team.
