Hat was given as a gift to child actress, Jane Withers, on the set of It’s a Gift in 1934. The straw boater was the thing that most epitomizes the cantankerous legend of comedy, W.C. Fields. It embodies the essence of Fields' genius, much as the Ruby Slippers symbolizes Judy Garland’s magical appeal and childlike innocence. Hat is of magnificent quality, made of straw, satin bow and lined in kid leather. Condition is pristine, Mint. Made by Ruddick patented in 1929. Inside, is written “WC Fields” and “It’s a Gift”. Comes with an LOA from Jane Withers and a picture of Jane with Fields from the movie.
