Coming out of Syracuse in 1963, the HOF’er was a fullback in tight end's clothing. His soft hands and hard running style though made him an immediate target for Johnny Unitas. It also put him at the head of his talented rookie class. Standing seventeen inches in total height this highly coveted award boasts a 10.5" silver football guarded a 4" silver Colt on each side. On its 6.5" tall, wooden base, the engraved plaque reads, "John Mackey Baltimore Colt "Rookie Of The Year " 1963, Presented by Sports Boosters Of Maryland Augst 3, 1964". EX. LOA from Mackey.
