San Francisco 49ers home jersey issued for use by Jerry Rice during the 1996 season. This jersey was never worn by Rice, but the reason he never wore it is directly related to its provenance. The jersey has been consigned by the former National Sales Manager for Reebok, the company that manufactured the San Francisco 49ers jerseys in 1996. Every year, Reebok produced extra jerseys for the clubs it serviced in case any were lost or stolen. This was the extra produced for Rice that year, but it was never called into action. As a result, our consignor kept it after the season as a souvenir and it has remained in his possession since that time. It must be noted that the offered jersey is identical to the ones worn by Rice during the 1996 season, making it an affordable example for budget-conscious Jerry Rice collectors.

The red mesh jersey features the number "80" on the front, reverse, and each shoulder. "Rice" is lettered upon a red nameplate on the reverse, directly above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in tri-color white-on-gold-on-black tackle twill. Located in the collar are a "Reebok 48" label and white flag tag reading  "100% Nylon Blitz." An additional Reebok "SF Pro Line" label appears on the left front tail. The 49ers 50th anniversary patch adorns upper left breast. The jersey is original as issued and shows no use. Together with a letter of provenance from the consignor.
