Presented is a Ted Williams signed July 25, 1966, Hall of Fame Induction program, the year the Splendid Splinter was inducted. Williams received 93.4 percent of the vote in 1966, and he was the only player inducted in '66, entering the Hall of Fame with Casey Stengel, inducted as a manager. Williams played 21 seasons, his entire career, as a left fielder for the Red Sox. He missed almost the equivalent of five seasons for service as a Marine Corps pilot in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He still managed 521 home runs and a lifetime .344 batting average, with six AL batting crowns. His .406 batting average in '41 remains the last time a Major League hit .400 or better. In Williams' HOF induction speech, he urged voters to include Negro League players Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson, who were not in the HOF, said Williams, "only because they weren't given the chance. Insubsequent years, Paige, Gibson, and 33 other African American players from Negro League and pre-Negro Leagues play were admitted to the Hall of Fame.
The signed 1966 HOF Induction program measures 5.5x8.5". It seems to have four pages, but it has been encapsulated and only the first and fourth pages are visible, folded and encapsulated. In part, the first page of the program reads, "Twenty-seventh Annual Program/National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum/Cooperstown, New York/July 25, 1966". Williams signed, in blue ink, on the cover. The signature is big and bold, but slightly faint on the first letter of his first and last names. The back page of the program gives the schedule for the events that day. The program has a vertical fold down the middle. This back page has tape remnants along the top, bottom, and edges. Overall, the program is in very good condition. The encapsulated offering is PSA/DNA CERTIFIED "AUTHENTIC AUTO".
