Presented is a 1960s Ayn Rand Type I photo shot by Alfred Eisenstaedt for LIFE Magazine. She came to the United States in 1926 and Ain Rand is her pen name. She wrote two published novels and two Broadway produced plays before her breakthrough hit novel in 1943, The Fountainhead. Another hit novel was Atlas Shrugged (1957). She then turned to non-fiction and promotion of her philosophy of Objectivism. THis philosophy rejected faith and religion and advocated individual responsibility. AS a result of the Russian Revolution, her parents had to fell Russia and lost their business, and Rand advocated a laissez-faire form of capitalism. Her books have sold well over 37 million copies. 

The offered black & white photo measures approx. 10.4x12". The photo shows Rand in public, with others in the background. On back of the photo is a stamped "LIFE PICTURE COLLECTION", and written by an unknown hand is blue editor's pencil: "Photo#5580570". Also, stamped on back "LIFE PHOTO By ALFRED EISENSTAEDT", an esteemed photojournalist who had over 90 of his photos on the cover of LIFE Magazine and over 2,500 photo-stories in LIFE. Eisenstaedt is most famous for his V-J Day in Times Square. That iconic shot pictured a sailor kissing a nurse to celebrate the end of World War II. Eisenstaedt was posthumously inducted in 2020 into the International Photographers Hall of Fame and Museum. The photograph comes with a PSA/DNA LOA for the Type I photograph (1P16894). The photograph is in EXCELLENT condition.
