Gerald R. Ford was the 38th President of the United States. Offered is the opportunity to possess a Gerald R. Ford signed index card. Ford was born in Nebraska, but he grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born Leslie Lynch King Jr., but he changed his name after his mother remarried, to Gerald Randolff Ford. President Ford played football on the University of Michigan team, as a center and linebacker. He was on two undefeated Michigan teams that were the National Champions, the 1933 and 1934 teams. Later, he turned down offers to play professional football. Ford attended the University of Yale Law School and served in combat as a U.S. Naval officer during World War II. He was a member of the House of Representatives for nearly 25 years, and the House Minority Leader for nine years. He was appointed U.S. Vice President, following Spiro Agnew's resignation in 1973. Upon the resignation of Richard Nixon in 1974, Ford assumed the Presidency, serving from 1974-77. He was a moderate Republican and was a signer of the Helsinki Accords.
