Otto Graham, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, was an amazing quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, who in his ten year professional career, was in his league's championship game for each of his ten seasons, winning seven of those contests. Presented is an index card with Graham's single-signed signature. Graham, born in Waukegan, Illinois, in 1921, played college football, baseball, and basketball for Northwestern University. During the later days of World War II, Graham transferred to Colgate University for Pre-Flight Navy V-5 Program training and played basketball for Colgate. He played a season of pro basketball in 1945-56 for the Rochester Royals of the National Basketball League, one of the forerunners of the NBA. Graham's Royals won the NBL Championship. Graham and Gene Conley (baseball and basketball) are the only two professional athletes of the four principal team sports of the country to have won championships in two pro sports.
Graham signed with the Cleveland Browns of the new All-American Football Conference in 1946. The team won all the AAFC Championship in each season of the AAFC. After the 1949 season, the AAFC folded and three teams, including the Browns were admitted to the NFL. The Browns won the NFL Championship in the team's first season in the NFL. In his entire pro career, four years in the AAFC and six years in the NFL, Graham's Cleveland Browns were in the championship game in each season from 1946-55, and Brown won seven of those ten Championship games. Otto Graham still holds the NFL record for average yards per passing attempt (8.63). He was a 3-time NFL MVP and a 2-time AAFC MVP. Graham is also in the College Football Hall of Fame and after his playing career, he was a head football coach, at several times, for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and also the head coach of the Washington Redskins.
Graham used a fine tip black marker to craft a neat signature on a 3x5" blank, unlined file card. The signed card is in EXCELLENT condition. The file card has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified as "AUTHENTIC AUTO" (#83417949).
