Presented is a Dusty Baker award collection, with two (2) John F. Kennedy Physical Fitness Awards and a Boys and Girls Club Award. Baker played from 1968-86 in the Major Leagues. He was an outfielder with the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, and the Houston Astros. He also managed five Major League teams. As a player, Baker batted .278 with 242 home runs. He was a 2-time All-Star and a 2-time World Series Champion.

The three offered Baker Collection awards: 1) An approx. 11x13x1.75" 1978 John F. Kennedy Fitness Award. During his time as the President of the United States in the early 1960s, John F. Kennedy instituted a national program of physical fitness, headed by former Oklahoma Football Coach Bud Wilkerson. In this time period, Baker was a player with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The award has a raised image of JFK, over a blue felt-like backing, with "John Fitzgerald Kennedy" in raised lettering. Below this is a 3.5x5.5" plaque reading, "John F. Kennedy Physical Fitness Award/DUSTY BAKER/N.C.B.B.A./17th Annual Family Night/1-16-78." It is unclear for what "N.C.B.B.A." refers. Although it is not known, Baker most likely received the offered award for his help with the National Fitness Program. The small plaque has a few tiny scratches. Overall, the offering is in very good condition. 2) A 11x13x1.75" JFK Fitness Award presented to Dusty Baker. It is a slightly different version of the first described award above. There is a raised image of JFK, over a blue felt-like backing, with "John Fitzgerald Kennedy" in raised lettering around the image. An approx. 3x6" plaque under the Kennedy image reads, "JOHN F. KENNEDY Physical Fitness Award/DUSTY BAKER/N.C.B.B.A. 20th ANNUAL FAMILY NIGHT BASEBALL BANQUET/1-15-81." There are a few tiny scratches on the plaque, but it is in EXCELLENT overall condition. 3) An 8x10x0.5" award to Dusty Baker. The approx. 5x7" plaque in the center of the award reads, "Continentals of Omega Boys and Girls Club, Inc./29th Anniversary Banquet/Vallejo, California/DUSTY BAKER/Keynote Speaker/1966." There is surface loss over the "T" in Dusty's first name. There are also some small scratches or spots, but nothing major.

Dusty Baker, while retired as a manager, continues to devote himself to worthy causes, and these three awards pay tribute to a fine player, a successful manager, and a quiet humanitarian.
