Offered is a 1988 Nolan Ryan Houston Astros regular season road jersey. Known as "The Ryan Express," the right-handed Hall of Famer pitched 27 seasons in the Major leagues: New York Mets (1966 & 1968-71), California Angels (1972-79), Houston Astros (1980-88), and Texas Rangers (1989-93). Ryan had a lifetime 324-292 record, with a 3.19 ERA and an MLB record seven no-hitters. His 5,714 career strikeouts remains the all-time MLB record. Ryan was a World Champion on the '69 New York Mets, and he was an 8-time All-Star. Ryan seemed born to be a superior pitcher. As a little boy, he loved throwing stones and other objects whenever he had the chance. As a high school sophomore at Alvin High School in Alvin, Texas, he was scouted by Red Murff, a well-known scout for the New York Mets. Murff later put on his scouting report that Ryan "had the best arm I have ever seen," and Ryan was drafted and signed to begin his professional career in the Mets' organization. After his lengthy playing career, Ryan became the CEO and President of the Texas Rangers (2008-13) and a special executive with the Houston Astros (2014-19). 

The offered pullover, knit Rawlings jersey has the distinctive multi-colored Astros stripes on each sleeve. Across the chest of the off-white jersey is "Astros" in blue sewn-on, double tackle twill letters with white trim. A blue Astros star, with white trim, is sewn on under the team's name. A Rawlings manufacturer's tag is embroidered in dark blue thread on the right sleeve. On the front outside tail is a Rawlings manufacturer's tag showing size "44," and adjacent to this manufacturer's tag is a tag reading, "SET 1 1988." On back is a sewn-on white nameplate with "RYAN" in sewn-on blue letters. Under the nameplate is "34" in sewn-on double tackle twill 8" blue numerals with white trim. The jersey has a "34" chest measurement and a "33" torso measurement. The offered jersey comes with a MEARS Letter of Opinion (Cert. 3222397) which shows a MEARS Final Grade: A5. The jersey shows minimal use, and there are a few light, hardly noticeable small stains. Despite a few minor imperfections, the jersey is in overall EXCELLENT condition.
