Donnie Shell played his entire professional career with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1974-87). Displayed is a 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers jersey that was game worn by the Pro Football Hall of Fame safety. Shell played college football for South Carolina State University, and he eventually became a College Football Hall of Famer. He went undrafted in the NFL Draft but played 13 NFL seasons, all for Pittsburgh. The 5'11" hard hitter was a 5-time Pro Bowl selection. Playing at strong safety, he was a key member of the famed "Steel Curtain" Steelers defense of the mid-to-late 1970s. Shell was a starter on four Super Bowl Champions, following the 1974, '75, '78, and '79 campaigns. When Shell game wore the offered jersey in the '76 season, the Steelers had a 10-4 regular season record but were eliminated from the playoffs in the Conference Championship Round, 24-7, by the Oakland Raiders. In the '76 regular season, Shell had one interception and one fumble recovery. Lifetime, he had 51 interceptions for 490 yards, 19 fumble recoveries, and four defensive touchdowns.

The offered short sleeve knit jersey is white, with trim in black, gold, and white. The chest has "31" in black, sewn-on numerals, and each shoulder also has "31" in black, sewn-on numerals. On the bottom of each sleeve is black, gold, and white trim. The back has a white, sewn-on nameplate, with "SHELL" in sewn-on gold letters, with black trim. On the back, lower tail: a sewn-on "76" year tag; a sewn-on exclusive Sand-Knit manufacturer's tag, and a sewn-on Sand-Knit size "46" tag. The jersey shows nice wear, with multiple team repairs, paint transfers, abrasions, and pilling. The jersey comes with a Pittsburgh Steelers LOA that was signed in 2019 by Arthur J. Rooney, II (Pittsburgh Steelers President).
