One of the most talked-about prospects of all time, Jefferies made his debut with the Mets in 1987 and would play with the team through 1991. He had his best years with the St. Louis Cardinals, making the All-Star team in 1993 and 1994. Jefferies would retire following the 2000 season and finished his career with a .289 lifetime batting average.
