The Kinks, formed in London, England, in 1963, were one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s-70s. Presented is the opportunity to possess a Kinks signed One for the Road album display. The Kinks were influenced by American rhythm and blues, rock and roll, British music hall, and country music. The original band played under a variety of names, and it consisted of Ray Davies (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Dave Davies (lead guitar and vocals), Pete Quaife (bass), and Mick Avory (drums). After using numerous band names, The Kinks was selected in order to give the band a distinctive name that sounded somewhat edgy, but the moniker was not a favorite of Ray Davies; "I've never really liked the name," he admitted. The Kinks' first single that attracted attention was the Ray Davies song "You Really Got Me," which in 1964 reached Number 1 in the United Kingdom and made the Top 10 in the United States. Overall, the Kinks had five top singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and nine albums on the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. In the United Kingdom, the band had 17 Top 20 singles and five Top 10 albums. The Kinks have impacted many groups, influencing, among many others, the punk rock of The Ramones and the heavy metal of Van Halen. The Kinks were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

The offered Kinks signed One for the Road display is based on the album that was recorded in 1979-80 and released in '80 by Arista Records. It was produced by Ray Davies and reached 14th on the 1980 Billboard Pop Album charts. Key songs on it include "Lola" and "You Really Got Me." The image on the display is a visible 8x11.25", matted and framed to 15.75". On the lower part of the display is a plaque measuring 1.75x4" and reading, "The Kinks/Rock and Roll Hall of Fame/Class of 1990." The framed image has a multi-colored psychedelic feel and depicts Ray Davis on guitar. Giving the vibe of a type of Times Square revolving, moving display, the lettering that appears reads, "...FOR THE ROAD ON...." Signing the display in fine tip black marker: Mick Avory, Ray Davies, Dave Davies, and John Dalton. Dalton, on bass, often recorded with The Kinks, and he was at different times a full-fledged member of the group. The signatures are bold, large, and theatrical. The frame has a few very small chips. Overall, the signed display is in EXCELLENT condition. The Kinks played from 1963 to 1997, and their fame and influence were extensive. The signed display comes with a PSA LOA for the signatures.
