Spectacular original Type I news photograph capturing Joe DiMaggio at bat during a game in 1946. The crystal-clear image captures DiMaggio in his follow-through swing as his eyes follow the flight of the ball. The photographer's credit, "Potter and Feltman," is affixed to the photo in the lower right corner. A vintage handwritten notation on the reverse reads "Anderson catching for Brooklyn + Joe DiMaggio swinging out," below which is the year "1946." Ferrell Anderson played with Brooklyn only in 1946 and since the venue is neither Yankee Stadium nor Ebbets Field, this photo must have been taken either during spring training or at a mid-season exhibition game between the two clubs. Regardless of the venue, it remains an exceptional photo of the fabled "Yankee Clipper" doing what he did best. The photo (9.5x7.5") remains in apparent Near Mint condition.
