This extraordinary, one-of-a-kind first-day cover features the signatures of every Major League Baseball Commissioner in history with the exception of Kenesaw Landis and current Commissioner Rob Manfred. PSA has encapsulated the envelope and certified all the signatures as "Authentic." The 1969 first-day cover has been signed by the following eight Commissioners: Happy Chandler (1945-51), Ford Frick (1951-65), William Eckert (1965-68), Bowie Kuhn (1969-1984), Peter Ueberroth (1984-89), A. Bartlett Giamatti (1989), Fay Vincent (1989-92), and Bud Selig (1992-2015). The signatures, scripted in a variety of inks, average 9/10. All have been signed directly on the first-day cover except for Eckert, which is in the form of a cut that has been affixed along the left border. Both a 1939 Centennial of Baseball stamp and a 1969 commemorative stamp have been applied along the top border. Stamped "First Day of Issue" below the 1969 stamp. This is the first piece we have ever featuring the signatures of nearly every Baseball Commissioner in history, the rarest of which is that of Giamatti, who died during the first year of his term. Ideally, there is still room to accommodate the signature of current Commissioner Rob Manfred, if so desired. The first-day cover (6.5x3.5") remains in Excellent condition.
