Presented is a September 22, 1946, New York Yankees official program and score card for Hall of Famer Yogi Berra's first Major League game, when he hit his first Major League home run. Berra had just been called up from the Yankees farm team in Newark, New Jersey. The Yankees and the visiting Philadelphia Athletics were both out of the pennant race, and Berra batted eighth and caught in the first game of a double-header at Yankee Stadium. With Charlie "King Kong" Keller on first base in the 4th inning, Berra homered to the lower bleachers in right field off Athletics starter Jesse Flores to give the Bronx Bombers a 4-0 lead. Later, Yogi singled in the 6th inning, and he wound up the game with 2-for-4, with a run and two RBIs. For the season, in 22 at bats, Berra batted .364 that season, with a pair of home runs. He would go on to become a 3-time AL MVP and hit 358 home runs as a key player on 10 New York Yankee World Champions.

The program and score card measures approx. 6.6x9.9". It has 12 pages, not including the covers. At one point it was folded vertically down the middle, and the fold remains. The back cover is torn off and missing, and the front cover is essentially loose. Because of the passage of almost 80 years, the offering has darkened, not enough to prevent anything from being read. There are a few small stains, some small tears, and some paper loss. The score card has been filled in by pencil only for the bottom of the first inning. Despite some of the minor imperfections, the score card makes a great remembrance for the Major League debut and first home run for an American idol, Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra.
