Presented is a 1954 International League Toronto Maple Leafs program, listing numerous well-known baseball names, including Roberto Clemente, Tommy Lasorda, Elston Howard, and Sam Jethroe. Toronto was an unaffiliated team in this AAA circuit. The program measures 8.4x10.9" and it has 48 pages, including covers. The program cover reads, in part, "Toronto Maple Leafs/International League 1954/Twenty-five Cents." The program contains an unused scorecard. In the program's printed line-up of the visiting Montreal Royals: Hall of Fame right fielder Roberto Clemente, later drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates when Brooklyn left him unprotected; Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda, then a topflight AAA hurler who only pitched briefly in the Major Leagues; plus, pitcher Joe Black, who for a time was a star with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and others who had Major League careers: Dixie Howell, Ed Roebuck, Dick Whitman, Gino Cimoli, and Rocky Nelson. On the printed Toronto roster: Sam Jethroe, a Negro League star who was in the Majors with the Boston Braves, and Elston Howard, who went on to fame as a catcher/outfielder with the New York Yankees. Also, others who played in the Major Leagues, including Vic Lombardi, Connie Johnson, Buddy Kerr, Billy Demars, and Loren Babe. The program is over 75 years old and in really nice condition.
