Near-complete run of the twenty-five New York Yankees cards (numbered 1-25) from the 1979 Diamond Greats set, each signed on the front by the respective player. Missing only #10 Duffy Lewis and #11 Lefty Gomez for completion. Also included with the collection is a 1978 Grand Slam #49 George Halas card, signed by Halas on the front. What makes this signed collection especially noteworthy is the fact that it includes signed cards for both Roger Maris (#25) and Elston Howard (#24). Maris died in 1985, while Howard died in 1980, which gave collectors a very short window to obtain their signatures, especially for Howard. Duffy Lewis died at the age of 91 on June 17, 1979, so while it is possible to have a signed example of his card from this set, the probability is very high that no such examples exist. Given that, our consignor has included an index card signed by Duffy Lewis to serve as a proxy for his signed card (his unsigned card is included in the collection as well). The signatures are all boldly scripted, averaging 9/10. The cards remain in Near Mint condition overall. 

Three of the cards have been encapsulated by PSA, with the signatures certified as Authentic: #1 DiMaggio, #24 Howard, and #25 Maris. The remaining cards signed cards in the set are 2 Chapman, 3 Dugan, 4 Shawkey, 5 Sewell, 6 Pipgras, 7 Selkirk, 8 Dahlgren, 9 Chandler, 12 Donald, 13 Witt  (Witt has added "Good Luck/Keep Swinging" in blue ink on the reverse), 14 Russo, 15 Rosar, 16 Van Atta, 17 Lindell, 18 Brown, 19 Kubek, 20 Beggs, 21 Larsen, 22 Carey, and 23 Kucks.
