From 1947-56, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees met six times in a "Subway" World Series. Presented is a rare circa late-1940s-50s fans metal pin, most likely created for a Dodgers-Yankees World Series from 1947-56. Only in '55 did Brooklyn beat the Yankees in a World Series, the Dodgers' lone Brooklyn World's Championship. That was when in Game 7, Johnny Podres, the Dodgers' young, left-hander, shut out the Yankees 2-0 at Yankee Stadium, greatly helped by a great, game-saving catch by Sandy Amoros in left field. The offered pin has a diameter of 3.5". A working clip on the back was used to attach the pin to one's clothing. The Dodgers colors, then and now, aside from a red number on the uniform, are royal blue and white, and on the pin, the royal blue letters on a white background are Dodgers all the way. This lettering reads, "BEAT THEM YANKS." There is also an image of the famed Brooklyn "Bum" on the pin. Unless the pin was created for the '56 World Series, the determined and fierce look on the "Bum's" face reflects the anger and frustration of Brooklyn loses to the Yankees in the 1947, '49, '52, '53, Series, and further back, even in '41. The pin exhibits some slight darkening, very little considering the pin's age. The pin has two tiny spots or stains, but these very minor imperfections hardly diminish the charm and nostalgia value of a charming, vintage remembrance of the Brooklyn Dodgers of Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, and Pee Wee Reese.
