Presented is a Ben Williams Buffalo Bills game issued blue mesh jersey. Since Buffalo Bills jerseys maintained a consistent design during Ben Williams playing career, the date the jersey was game issued is unknown. Williams (1954-2020) was the first African American to play football for the University of Mississippi. The 6'3" left defensive end, nicknamed "Gentle Ben," played his entire NFL career for the Buffalo Bills (1976-85). He was a Pro Bowl selection in 1982, and he finished his career with 52 sacks. The jersey chest shows "77" in white stenciled numerals with red trim. Each short sleeve also shows "77" in white stenciled numerals with red trim. On the lower left, outside tail is a Medalist Sand-Knit manufacturer's tag reading, "Designed & Tailored exclusively for the BUFFALO BILLS/AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE." Below the above tag is a Sand-Knit manufacturer's (MacGregor Sporting Goods) tag showing size "48." On the right inside seem is a tag with washing instructions showing the jersey to be "100% Nylon." The back has a blue name plate with "WILLIAMS" in white, stenciled letters. Beneath the player's name is "77" in white stenciled numerals with red trim. The jersey is in EXCELLENT condition.
