Houston Astros home jersey worn by outfielder Cesar Geronimo during his first season in the Majors in 1969. The white flannel jersey features the club's "Shooting Star" logo on the front, below which is the team name "Astros," each embroidered in blue on orange. The number "34" appears on the reverse in blue on orange felt. Both a "Wilson 40" label and the year, "69" (chain-stitched in black), are located on the left front tail. An Astros team patch appears on the left sleeve, while a Major League Baseball "100th Anniversary" patch adorns the right sleeve. (Research confirms that Cesar Geronimo was the only player to wear number "34" for the Astros in 1969.) Both the number on the reverse and the "100th Anniversary" patch on the right sleeve have been restored (the stitch outline of the original number "34" and patch can be seen upon close examination). Aside from those alterations, the jersey is original as issued and displays moderate wear, including a few tiny, scattered stains and a team repair on the left sleeve. 

Geronimo, who would later become a key member of the legendary Cincinnati Reds "Big Red Machine" dynasty in the mid-1970s, was obtained by the Astros during the 1969 Rule V MLB draft. As per the rules of the special draft, the Astros were required to keep Geronimo on the club's official twenty-five man roster for the entire 1969 season. Because he was still raw, Geronimo saw limited action that year, appearing in just 28 games, mainly as a pinch runner or defensive replacement. It wasn't until the Astros traded him to Cincinnati in 1972 that Geronimo became a starter in the Majors. Noted mainly for his defense, Geronimo won four Gold Glove Awards during his fifteen-year career. He retired in 1983 with 51 home runs, 392 RBI, and a .258 lifetime average.
