Displayed is a 1910s Ty Cobb Straw Hat pocket score card, the first we have ever seen. The Hall of Fame center fielder played 22 of his 24 Major League seasons with the Detroit Tigers and became a millionaire with investments in growing companies, such as Coca-Cola and General Motors, as well as funds earned by advertisements, such as the offered example. The 2.3x4.75" advertisement is made of celluloid. One side depicts crossed bats and baseballs, with "TY COBB SPECIAL." The other side has a scorecard with "PRESENTED WITH THE TY COBB STRAW HAT TO BE HAD OF ALL DEALERS." The scorecard is designed for a basic line score, like a scoreboard, with room to list both teams, and places to score runs for 10 innings. There are also places for runs, hits, and errors, and for each team's batteries. We presume that that these were given with the purchase of a Ty Cobb endorsed straw hat. We have seen a straw hat in the past with the Ty Cobb endorsement. The score card is meant to be carried in a person's pocket to keep track of the game score. It could then be erased and reused. The offering is in EXCELLENT condition.
