Johnny Bench, with his incredible combination of offense and defense, is regarded by many baseball pundits as the Greatest of All Time catcher, the baseball catcher G.O.A.T. Offered is a 1970s Johnny Bench game worn, signed, Cincinnati Reds batting helmet. The Hall of Famer played his entire Major League career with Cincinnati (1962-83). Bench was a 2-time World Champion as a key member of the 1970s "Big Red Machine." The 2-time MVP was also the 1976 World Series MVP. Bench, a 14-time All-Star, batted a lifetime .267, with 388 home runs. The 1968 NL Rookie of the Year was a 2-time NL home run champ. On defense, Bench had a cannon arm, with great accuracy. He was a 10-time Gold Glove winner as a catcher. The offered ABC flapless helmet shows great use: scratches and abrasions in various spots and sweat stains on the sweat band. "BENCH" is in vintage red Dymo tape on back. The "C" on front-brim is signed by Bench in black felt tip but is a little light. An American Baseball Cap size 7 5/8 sticker is inside. Also, "7 5/8" is also written inside in black marker. Raised lettering on the inside brim reads, "AMERICAN BASEBALL CAP/MEDIA, PENNA." Bench had a very large hat and helmet size. All padding inside is intact. Bench wore a flapless helmet like this when up to bat and also when he was behind the plate catching. The game worn Cincinnati Reds Bench helmet makes a terrific remembrance for an all-time great.
