Displayed is a signed index card from the amazing Charles "Kid" Nichols, a Hall of Fame right-hander who holds an incredible achievement: Nichols pitched in 15 Major League seasons, and as he said, "I was proud of two things. My election to baseball's Hall of Fame, and the fact that I was never removed from a game for a relief pitcher." Nichols, an almost unbelievable ironman, didn't always throw complete games, even though he had 532 of them. Sometimes he was removed for a pinch hitter. He had a lifetime 362-208 record, with a 2.96 ERA. He was the youngest pitcher to have won 300 games, reaching that mark when he was only 31 years old. Nichols played for three teams, all in the National League: Boston Beaneaters (1890-1901), St. Louis Cardinals, as a player-manager (1904-05), and Philadelphia Phillies (1905-06). The offered 3x5" index card is signed by Nichols on the blank side. Nichols signed in neatly scripted, blue, fountain pen ink, as "Charles 'Kid' Nichols." The card exhibits some light foxing, mainly near the edges, and some minor darkening, but it is otherwise in fine condition. The index card has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified as "AUTHENTIC AUTO."
