Presented is a 1957 game-scored program from the NBA Finals Game 7 clincher when the Boston Celtics defeated the St. Louis Hawks 125-123 (2OT). It was the first NBA Championship for the Boston Celtics. The program measures 8x11", and it has 28 pages, including a four-page, unnumbered pink-colored insert, and the covers. The 1956-57 Celtics had seven Hall of Famers on their team: Bob Cousy, Bill Sharman, Andy Phillip, Frank Ramsey, Arnie Risen, Bill Russell, Tom Heinsohn, plus Hall of Fame coach Red Auerbach. The St. Louis Hawks had three Hall of Famers on their squad: Bob Petit, Slater Martin, and Ed Macauley, plus Hall of Fame coach Alex Hannum. In the '57 Championship Game, the Celtics had tremendous games from the team's great rookies, Bill Russell and Tommy Heinsohn: Russell had 19 points, with an amazing 32 rebounds. Heinsohn, who was the NBA's Rookie of the Year in 1956-57, had 37 points and 23 rebounds. Bo Petit led St. Louis with 39 points, with Cliff Hagen having 24 points and Slater Martin 23 markers. In the final seconds of the second overtime, Petit missed a tap-in for St. Louis to give the Celtics their two-point win. The 1956-57 Championship was part of a miraculous playoff run in which the Celtics won 11 Championships in 13 seasons, out of a total of their 18 total NBA Crowns.
In the four-page pink centerfold insert is a scorecard that was scored in pencil, by an unknown hand. The program has small black & white photographs of all the Celtics stars, plus the lineups for each squad in the game, and stories and NBA statistics. Written in pencil on the program cover, by an unknown hand: "Last Game/4/13/57 Celtics Champ," plus a mistaken final score that lists Ft. Wayne rather than Boston. The is an approx. 1" partial tear on the edge of the cover, and the program also has a few small folds and some small, light stains. Overall, the program is in VERY GOOD condition.
