Displayed is a Nov. 28, 1976, John Hannah New England Patriots presentational game ball. A Pro Football Hall of Famer, Hannah was an NFL guard who played all of his 13 professional seasons with the New England Patriots. An ironman, Hannah only missed five games during a possible 191 games in his Patriots career. Nicknamed "Hog," he played at 6'2" and 265 lbs. A 9-time Pro Bowl selection, he was named to the NFL's 100th Anniversary team. An indication of Hannah's greatness was that in 1981, Sports Illustrated magazine named Hannah as the best offensive lineman of all-time. In the Nov. 28, 1976, game for which Hannah was awarded this game ball, he played left guard and was a key blocker as New England rushed for 332 yards. The offered presentational football is a Wilson, produced during Pete Rozelle's time as NFL Commissioner. The ball has one panel painted white. There is a striking red, white, and blue iconic image of a Patriots player in a Revolutionary War Uniform. Verbiage lettered on the white panel reads, "GAME BALL PRESENTED TO JOHN HANNAH/PATRIOTS - 38/BRONCOS - 14/NOVEMBER 28,1976/SCHAEFER STADIUM." The football exhibits light use and a bit of age-related wear, with some minor air loss. The offering comes with a Letter of Provenance from John Hannah.
