Edd Roush was a Hall of Fame center fielder who achieved the bulk of his fame while playing for the Cincinnati Reds (1916-26). Offered is a 1954 Edd Roush signed MacGregor ball, in EXCELLENT to MINT Condition. Roush's Major League career lasted from 1913-31. In addition to the Cincinnati Reds, he played for the New York Giants, Chicago White Sox, Newark Peppers, and Indianapolis Hoosiers. Roush batted a career .323, with 182 triples and 268 stolen bases. He was on the 1919 World Champion Cincinnati Reds who defeated the Chicago White Sox (later known as the "Black Sox") 5-3 in games in the eight-game Series that became notorious when eight Chicago players were banned for life by Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis for associating with gamblers when means and ways of throwing the 1919 World Series were discussed. Roush always claimed that Cincinnati was the better team and would have won anyway. Stamped on the ball is "Ridgewood Sports Shop" and (Model) "R66." Roush used blue ink from a ballpoint pen to neatly sign his name and inscribe "1954" on a side panel. The auto rates 8/10. The signed ball comes with a JSA LOA (Cert. Number: YY39729).
