The long-standing rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees goes all the way back to 1903, when the former Baltimore Orioles franchise moved to New York and became the Highlanders, so-called because they played at Hilltop Park, one of the highest places in the New York City Borough of Manhattan. At that time, the Boston American League franchise was called the Americans, and in the team's first game, at Hilltop Park, the Americans defeated New York, 6-2. Offered is the opportunity to possess a collection of three (3) Fenway Park ticket stubs, with each stub representing a significant moment for a legendary Yankee player. Each of the stubs measures approx. 1.5x2.5". 1) An October 3, 1948, $2.40 box seat to the regular season finale. Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio had four hits and three RBIs. Not be outdone by his older brother, the center fielder of the Red Sox, Dom DiMaggio, had three hits, including a home run, while Hall of Famer Ted Williams had a pair of hits and two RBIs for the Sox in Boston's 10-5 win. 2) A June 30, 1949, $1.50 reserved grandstand ticket stub from a game in which Joe DiMaggio blasted his 307th career home run in the Yankees' 6-3 victory. 3) A September 25, 1952, $2.40 box seat ticket stub for a game in which star Yankee right-handed hurler Allie Reynolds won his 20th game of the season, marking the only year in which Reynolds won 20 games as a Yankee. Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle added a triple in the Bronx Bombers' win. Each of the stubs shows some expected partial color change, and the Sept. 25, 1952, stub exhibits some of the color washing out. Overall, the ticket stubs are in very good condition. They will make a nice addition to any baseball ticket stub collection, especially a collection featuring the Yankees.
