Presented is an extremely rare Al Davis single-signed Official NFL Football (Tagliabue). Davis, a Pro Football Hall of Famer as an owner/contributor, was at various, and often concurring times over a period of 49 years, an owner, managing general partner, head coach, and de facto general manager of the NFL's Raiders. He stood out as a decided maverick in the NFL. He often wore black pants and a black shirt, with a black leather jacket, and his hair was slicked back, in the style of a young man in 1950s Brooklyn, where he grew up. He was the team's head coach from 1963 -65. He was in the social Avant Garde as an owner, as he hired the NFL's first African American head coach (Art Shell), and the NFL's first Latino head coach (Hall of Famer Tom Flores). The heyday of the Raiders was the 1970s-80s when the franchise won three Super Bowls. Davis hired Hall of Famer John Madden as the Raiders' long-term head coach. Davis was also briefly the Commissioner of the AFL before that league merged with the NFL. Davis had a favorite slogan: "Just win, baby!" and he often acquired players who had caused problems with other teams and attempted to "rehabilitate" those players as Raiders, often with success. On defense, his Raider teams were noted for a strong pass rush and having at least one lock-down cornerback. On offense, he liked to stretch the defense with long passes, and then work underneath to Hall of Fame receiver Fred Biletnikoff. Even long after his time as head coach, Davis was very involved with Raiders strategy during games, often sending notes to the Raiders coach throughout the game. Davis was a part owner, or majority owner of the Raiders during the playing careers of many Pro Football Hall of Famers: George Blanda, Kenny Stabler, Art Shell, Jim Otto, Howie Long, Dave Casper, Marcus Allen, Cliff Branch, and many more. Davis also was in numerous legal battles with the NFL; for instance, the protracted legal battles when he moved the Raiders to Los Angeles for a year and then moved the team back to Oakland.

The Wilson football has three white panels for autographs. It is about 11" long, and it is encased in a clear, plastic case measuring approx. 7.3x7.3x11.75". Using a fiber tip black marker, Davis signed a big and bold, neat signature on the panel under "NFL." This single-signed Al Davis NFL football is the rarest of rare - the only one we have ever seen. It comes with three Letters of Authenticity: PSA/DNA, JSA, and Beckett. The ball is in EXCELLENT condition.
