Presented is a near-life-size circa 1960 Bob Cousy Super K basketball advertising display. A Hall of Famer, Cousy played 13 seasons as a 6'1" point guard for the Boston Celtics (1950-63). He briefly came out of playing retirement as a player-coach with the Royals (1969-70). Cousy grew up in the Manhattan and Queens boroughs of New York City. He began playing basketball at age 13 and later broke his right arm when he fell out of a tree. The broken arm forced him to play left-handed for a time, and that helped him to become an ambidextrous player. In college at Holy Cross and in the NBA, Cousy was often criticized for his exciting behind-the-back dribbling and passing. He persevered and soon earned the nickname of "The Houdini of the Hardwood." He was a 13-time NBA All-Star and helped the Boston Celtic dynasty to six championships. He was the '57 NBA MVP and averaged a career 18.4 PPG and 7.5 APG. Cousy also was a college and professional coach and a television analyst.

The colorful, heavy cardboard display is 22.25" at the base and stands 5'1.5" tall. It has an intact, thick cardboard display stand on back. Although Cousy played at 6'1", the display is just tall enough, when placed on a stand with at least a foot of height, to give the illusion of being life-sized. A smiling Cousy is in his Boston Celtics green #14 uniform, holding the Super K Seamless Basketball in his right hand. The machine printing on the basketball reads, "BOSTON 14/Super K Seamless/OFFICIAL SIZE - WEIGHT/78 NYLON." A facsimile Cousy autograph is on the ball, and also on the ball is a real Cousy signature. Cousy signed in fine tip black marker in neat, big, and bold script. The display shows some mold near the lower left corner. There is some minor paper loss and some folds, one across the face. There are also a few small scratches and some minor stains. The aforementioned imperfections are mostly at the edges of the display and do not substantially detract from the overall display appearance, which has fine eye appeal.
