Presented is a 2004 David Wright signed and inscribed 2004 New York Mets bat that was game used for Wright's first hit as a New York Met, a spring training safe knock. Wright played 14 Major League seasons, all with the New York Mets (2004-16 & '18). The third baseman was a 7-time All-Star, a 2-time Silver Slugger, and a 2-time Gold Glove winner. Wright batted a lifetime .296, with 242 home runs. He was a key member of the 2015 Mets National League Champions. He was forced to retire because of the effects of spinal stenosis. On the barrel of the offered bat is etched "Big Stick/DAVID WRIGHT/PROFESSIONAL MODEL." "M603S" (Model Number) is etched on the knob. Wright has signed and inscribed the barrel, using black marker: "1st Big League Spring Training Hit 2004/David Wright #72." Hand-printed over the model number on the knob is "72" in black marker written by an unknown hand. The bat is cracked and hammered with use. The area where the handle meets the barrel is heavy with pine tar residue. The bat is photo-matched. The bat is 33.4" in length, and it weighs 32.4 ounces. It shows great use with ball marks, pine tar stains and residue, and paint transfers. Photo-matched to the image below:
