Presented is the 1994 Shaquille O'Neal FIBA World Championship All-Star Team Coca-Cola Award. The FIBA World Championship Tournament was the 12th International World Championship for Men's teams. It took place in Toronto and Hamilton, in Canada. This FIBA Championship was the first time that current professional, active NBA players were allowed to participate. O'Neal played for six NBA teams during his 19-year NBA career. He averaged 23.7 PPG and 10.9 TRB. O'Neal received an NBA Rookie of the Year Award, an MVP Award, was a 3-time Finals MVP, and a 4-time NBA Champion. In the '94 FIBA Tournament, the United States team, known as "Dream Team II," went undefeated, winning the Final Game 137-91 over Russia. O'Neal averaged 18 points per game in the tourney. The tournament All-Star Team saw United States players as three of the five selectees. Center Shaquille O'Neal had an advertising deal with Pepsi at that time, so he declined to accept an award associated with Coca-Cola and asked that fellow United States Tournament All-Star Shawn Kemp accept the award in his stead.
The offered award has a separate wooden base that measures 4x4". A plaque on the front of the base reads, "XII FIBA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP of BASKETBALL/COCA-COLA ALL-STAR TEAM/TORONTO 1994." The award itself is a bottle of Coca-Cola encased in glass. The base and the top of the glass encasement both measure 3.1x3.1". The glass encasement is approx. 9.4" in height. The encasement has an actual, filled bottle of Coca-Cola. In part, the Coke bottle reads, "Coca-Cola Money Back Bottle. Coke 6 1/2 FL OZ/return or refund." The offering is from the same collection as the photo-matched Shaq 1993 All Star uniform and 1994 Dream Team II uniform in the 2024 Fall Classic. Together, the base and glass-encased Coke bottle weigh 73 & 5/8 ounces. The award shows slight use and is in nice condition.
