Presented is a 1919 Cincinnati Reds Golden Jubilee anniversary program that was created for the '19 World Series between Cincinnati and the Chicago White Sox. The 1869 Cincinnati Reds, baseball's first professional team, were undefeated. Half a century later, the '19 Reds team faced the Chicago White Sox in the 1919 World Series. The Reds won the World Series 5-3 in games, when a Series win required a team winning a best-of-nine Series. The 1919 World Series was tainted by scandal, as eight Chicago White Sox players were banned for life by Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis for engaging in conversations with gamblers when the ways and means of fixing the World Series were discussed and the players failed to promptly report the meetings.

The 9x12" program's cover reads, "GOLDEN JUBILEE CINCINNATI REDS/Champions 1869-1919/Official Souvenir Score Card/World Series Games/Redland Field/1919." The program has 52 pages, including covers. On the cover is a photo of the Reds' manager, Pat Moran. The program includes a scorecard, which is unscored, with the prospective lineups machine-printed for both teams. The program also includes small photos and brief biographies for the Reds. The program is in nice condition, with light foxing, some spot stains, and some partial loss of color. The program shows a White Sox scorecard page with the names, in separate places, of all eight of the men later banned for life by Commissioner Landis, including Joe Jackson, Eddie Cicotte, and the others. The program also has the names of the honest White Sox, including Hall of Famer Eddie Collins, and Reds Hall of Famer Edd Roush. It's been a while since we have seen a program in this nice a condition from the 1919 World Series. The program comes with its original 9.5x12.2" envelope, which is in rough condition, with numerous tears. Machine printed on the envelope: "Golden Jubilee/Redland Field/Nineteen-Nineteen." The offering provides a tangible connection to baseball's most infamous World Series.
