Presented is a circa 1920s bleacher seat(s) from Fenway Park, the home field of the Boston Red Sox. On May 8, 1926, in its 15th year, with future Hall of Fame pitcher Red Ruffing a Red Sox rookie, Fenway Park was almost totally destroyed by a fire. Although there had been a small number of fires within Fenway Park prior to the 1926 blaze, that '26 fire caused extensive damage. The '26 fire started in left field and involved the wooden fence that kept passersby from Lansdowne Street, behind left field, from entering the stadium. It wasn't until 1947 that Fenway Park had the high left field wall known as "The Green Monster." This light wooden bleacher survived the '26 fire and, in 2004, it was rescued from a nearby dumpster. There is some faded green paint on one side and bolt holes on the other side, as well as carved messages like "MITCHELL" and "Hartford." It measures 7.38x69", with a thickness of 1.4". The numbers 2-5 have been stenciled, in white paint, at spots along the board, which shows four (nearly five) separate seating areas. The bleacher seat has paint loss in numerous places as well as paint chipping and some stains. This great vintage Fenway Park bleacher can be yours nearly a century after escaping the '26 blaze.
