New York Mets pillbox-style cap worn by Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver in 1976. This rare pillbox-style cap was used by the Mets only in 1976, therefore conclusively dating its use by Seaver to that single season. Seaver has personally attested to its game use by inscribing the brim in silver Sharpie (grading 9/10): Tom Seaver/My Gamer. Seaver has also signed the hat a second time in black marker (grading 8/10) on the underside of the brim. Seaver's uniform number, "41," is written on the underside of the brim. The hat bears the Mets "NY" logo embroidered in orange on the front, with three rows of orange piping encircling the top. Both a New Era label and 7 5/8 size tag are located on the interior headband. Light wear is displayed throughout, including a crack in the brim. Seaver finished the season with a record of 14-11 and a 2.49 ERA. He also led the league in strikeouts for the fifth and final time of his career. Full LOA from MEARS certifying the hat as Authentic (MEARS does not grade hats). Full LOA from JSA for the signature (which also certifies that the inscription "My Gamer" is in Seaver's hand).
