Original artwork, by noted sports artist Bill Purdom, used to produce Derek Jeter's 2001 Topps Gallery card #11. Signed by the artist in the lower left. While all original card artworks are unique, the offered example is especially desirable because it was later signed by Derek Jeter in blue Sharpie (grading 10/10) at the base. Beautifully matted and framed together with a 2001 Topps Gallery #11 Derek Jeter card that is also signed by Jeter on the front in blue Sharpie (6/10). A descriptive plaque is mounted at the base of the display. Bill Purdom (1953-2016) was the most prolific artist in the history of the Topps Company, having created over 340 images for baseball, football, and basketball cards. His lithographs were featured as background art in several hit television shows, including Seinfeld, Arliss, and Everybody Loves Raymond. Today, lithographs of all seventy-five of Purdom's baseball paintings reside in the permanent collection of the Baseball Hall of Fame. The offered artwork originates directly from The Topps Vault and is accompanied by a Topps Vault COA. Both pieces were signed under the auspices of Steiner Sports and each is accompanied by both an individual Steiner COA and corresponding hologram label (affixed to the front of each piece). Both the artwork (4.5x5.5"; image area) and card are in apparent Mint condition. Total dimensions: 16x30". Please Note: The size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
