Displayed is a 1951 Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Ted Williams signed 11x14" black & white photo depicting the three iconic Hall of Fame sluggers, each with bat in hand. These sluggers would make a fantastic dream outfield. Actually, in 1951, DiMaggio and Mantle did play together in the outfield. It was Mantle's first season and DiMaggio's last, with Joltin' Joe in center field and his center field heir apparent, Mantle, playing in right. Perhaps the fact that Mantle was used to playing center field and having the normal preference that center fielders have when converging on a ball between two outfielders was a contributing factor to the serious knee injury that happened to Mantle in Game 2 of the 1951 World Series when DiMaggio and Mantle almost collided on a fly ball to right center, and Mantle caught his cleat in a storm drain. Each of these icons played his entire career with one team: DiMaggio and Mantle with the New York Yankees and Williams with the Boston Red Sox. Williams was the last Major Leaguer to bat .400, as he hit .406 in 1941. Ted batted a career 344 with 521 home runs, a total that could have reached close to, or over, 700 if not for the almost five seasons' worth of games he missed while doing military service as a pilot in two wars. Mantle, with 536 homers, has the most circuit clouts of any switch-hitter in history, and the 3-time AL MVP was a 7-time World Series Champion. DiMaggio was a superb center fielder who batted a career .325, hit 361 home runs, and still holds the record for a consecutive game hitting streak at an amazing 56 contests. Each of these three superstars signed the photo in blue fine tip marker, with each showing a neatly-scripted autograph. The signed photo comes with a PSA LOA for the signatures.
