Rare program and scorecard from the 1921 Indianapolis 500 at the famed track now known as "The Brickyard," Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Measuring roughly 8.75x11", the program cover reads, in part, "Indianapolis Motor Speedway Company - Ninth International Sweepstakes, Distance 500 Miles" along with the date of May 30, 1921. There is an extensive stain running down the left side of the cover, there are some tears and cracking evident and cover has separated, though all pages appear to be present; program rates GD overall. And yes, there are not one, but two unused "scorecards" included. One is part of the program itself, encouraging fans to "Keep Track of the Standings - It will make the Race More Interesting" above a grid with room to score all 200 laps. Also included is an insert scorecard from the Citizens Lap Prize Fund, in which the leader of each lap could be noted, with a prize awarded for each. Tommy Milton took the checkered flag in that race, marking the first of his two Indy 500 championships. A full ticket from the 1921 Indy 500, which accompanied this program, is available elsewhere in this auction.
